'The activity trips are brilliant. We have yet to try the climbing, so that’s an excuse to come'
on the land
If you don't want to get wet(!) but can’t sit still we have loads of activities for you to try, from learning traditional woodland crafts such as pole lathing, trying your eye at archery or controlling your nerve on the cliffs.
Woodland Crafts
Learn traditional and local skills using and managing the woods. Hedge laying, pole lathing, coppicing, willow weaving and more. (Some activities are available on a seasonal basis only)
Climbing and Abseiling
The spectacular cliffs and inland crags in this area offer a safe but challenging introduction to this great sport. You’ll learn basic ropework, how to belay a partner and use efficient movement skills on the rock.
Archery
Try your hand at both target and field archery on the fforest rove—our new course with different targets at varying distances. A safe introduction to Archery with all equipment, coaching and no mention of Mr Hood.
Bushcraft
Our fire by friction sessions will see you make your own bow drill and use it to create friction, then heat, then char dust and finally a tiny glowing ember before dropping it into dry tinder and gently blowing it to life.
Tree Climbing
Using ropes and techniques from the tree surgery and climbing industries, we invite you to explore the canopy of some of the most ancient trees on site. We have developed this activity with expert tree surgeons to create a safe, unique activity.
