Thursday 15TH - sunday 18th november 2018

-

November, when all the leaves, seeds and berries have fallen from the trees and the cooler weather has set in, calling the arrival of winter, combined with the shorter days and longer nights, is the perfect time for nourishment of mind, soul and body.

A time to reconnect with your crafting and rekindle your passion for fireside creativity. A time for women to get together, to learn and share new skills. A time to get a little creative, ready for the festive season ahead.

We are very delighted to announce that Amanda Banham, the brilliant potter and story teller, is coming back to Glow again and she will help us build our own ceramic house or pinch pot. We are also super excited that Debbie George, a wonderful painter inspired by flowers, ceramics and pattern, will join us and guide us through painting a still life. There will be a walk through the woods to forage for greenery to make a winter wreath. We will take a bracing walk along a stretch of our beautiful rugged coast line, followed by a reflexology session to totally relax.

On Saturday afternoon we are thrilled to say wonderful cook and author Anja Dunk will be with us for a chop and chat and to talk us through some of the recipes in her new book ‘Strudel, Noodles and Dumplings’. Followed by some fforest gin tasting before supper.

Come alone or with a friend to enjoy the company and comfort of being a part of this small and intimate gathering in the peaceful surroundings of fforest with tasty and nourishing food.

If you have a talent, be it story telling, creative writing, willow weaving, crochet, kimchi making, aromatherapy, cake baking, puppet making, photography, tree climbing or knitting, it would be great if you would like to take a moment over the weekend to share your knowledge. We have plenty of comfortable spaces for creativity and will encourage everyone to bring their own creative project and share some crafting skills over the weekend.

The goal is to inspire, support and help each other, have some fun and maybe learn something new. Inspired by the Swedish concept of Syjunta - of women coming together to share friendship, inspiration, craft skills and knowledge, supporting each other in a relaxing environment.

Accommodation is in comfortable shared rooms in either a garden room or one of our crog lofts or in a private double with en-suite in Ty Fforest.

What you’ll be eating

We take pride in our food. We grow many of our own salads and greens. We are blessed with fantastic local produce on our doorstep. That makes it easy to keep it simple, seasonal, local and delicious. Everything is freshly prepared and will be mostly vegetarian. We will be making hearty soups with local breads for lunch and cooking comforting suppers from seasonal produce. Pots of tea are accompanied by delicious home-baked cakes and tray-bakes for sharing.

The stay includes 3 nourishing DIY breakfasts of granola, eggs, toast and jams, 2 light lunches and 3 hearty suppers. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies when booking so that we can take these into consideration when planning the menus.

What to Bring

Warm and waterproof clothes and boots, as we will be outside enjoying mother nature a lot of the time. Warm snuggly woollies to wrap and cosy up in.

A creative project you are working on or some basic materials to get you started, whether it be your knitting or sewing kit, a sketchbook or a camera.    This is your time. You decide.

Remember to pack a bottle of wine or two if you would like to relax on the sofa with a drink in the evening or have a glass with dinner. We do also have our own little private pub on site with an inglenook fireplace which we will fire up one evening for some fforest gin tasting.

Where you'll be staying

Every aspect of a comfortable stay and a good night’s sleep has been considered at fforest. We’ve given a lot of thought to the furnishings, using ethically sourced materials and local products which blend function with form. The end result is a combination of thousands of tiny decisions.

We’ve tried to think of everything. We hope you agree.

Ty fforest

From the outside, this is a farmhouse a child would draw: stout as a cottage loaf with a flour-white face and proud chimneys. Inside, though, it has all the swish of a Scandi ski lodge, with its pine cladding and patterned Welsh blankets.  The five bedrooms provide cosy comfort, each with their own shower room.

Crog Lofts

The crog lofts combine heritage quality restoration, natural materials and timeless design. Inside you'll find slate floors with underfloor heating, luxurious shower rooms, bespoke furnishings & textiles combined with quality mid-century furniture. Inside is all about comfort, but with the living space spilling out onto the covered terrace you never forget how close you are to the beauty of nature and our rugged Welsh landscape.

fforest farm

fforest farm is set in 200 acres of rural beauty sandwiched between the river Teifi gorge and the Teifi Marshes nature reserve, minutes from the town of Cardigan and from the beautiful beaches and coves of the West Wales coast. Sian will take you on a walk through the deer-inhabited woodland when you arrive.

Hidden in the woods is our cedar barrel sauna (and cold shower for the brave). Just down the path from here is the Bwthyn, our very own little pub and the oldest building on the farm. A beautiful candlelit old stone cottage with inglenook fireplace.

See below for details of room types and prices.

Prices are for 3 nights and include full catering and all activities.

Drinks are not included, unless specified.
