Its about the warm satisfaction to be found by enjoying Nature beauty & simple pleasures with family & friends. This year we will be making a limited selection of our accommodation available to experience fforest in the fresher, quieter, beautiful months of winter & spring.
Between fforest farm and the adjoining wildlife reserve there are 500 acres to make your own. Walk the river gorge, through the reed beds down to Cardigan or into Cilgerran for a pint. Enjoy Frosty, misty mornings, stunning starry skies at night. Listen to a deer roar, dusk birdsong , and silence.
Where do you find your luxury? Lazing in bed, wrapped in a blanket, woodstove roaring, secure and warm looking out across the landscape with the gentle patter of rain on the skin of your dome? Cooking & eating in the sheltered undercroft , watching the moon rise in the crisp clear air, knowing that you can step inside to the beautifully crafted comfort and underfloor heating of our croglofts? Watching the sun setting on the estuary and the river flowing beneath Cardigan Castle from the balcony of our granary lofts, a restored 18th century maritime warehouse on Cardigan’s old port?
Restored in 2015/16, the farmhouse has the quality of a cave, with warmth, comfort and intimacy.
Massive slate walls full of memories quarried 200 years ago from the river gorge. The big communal areas remain cave-like; cosy places to gather together, to cook, eat, play and just be. The kitchen is the heart; slate floors, massive open inglenook fireplace, wood-smoking oven. The five bedrooms all with private bathroom provide stylish comfort.
For up to 14 guests in bunk room, family room, and doubles.
The 2012 lonely planet guide voted coastal Wales ‘the best region to visit on earth’. That’s a lot to live up to. But there is no doubting that right on our doorstep there are magnificent landscapes. A coast walk, a beach to yourself. the warmth and crackle of a driftwood fire and a golden winter sunset is a rare and rewarding quiet adventure.
The hygge weekends are all self catering, but we'll supply all the elements to help you create your own hygge. Hampers are available to pre-order with ingredients including fforest hot smoked salmon, sausage cassoulet, Bara Menyn sourdough bread and local eggs and cheeses.
Y Bwthyn, our 200 year old tiny pub will be open each Saturday night as an honesty bar. The fire will be stoked, the bar stoked, the rest is up to you, log all your drinks using your own tab. Last man out makes the fire safe, switches lights off and shuts the door.
