Ty fforest
Sleeps up to 14

Featured in Elle Decoration, Country Living’s ‘Modern Rustic’ & Conde Nast Traveller’. From the outside, this is a farmhouse a child would draw: stout as a cottage loaf with a flour-white face and proud chimneys. Inside it has all the swish of a pine-clad Scandi ski lodge, with a spacious living / dining space and a big-hearted kitchen set around an inglenook you could herd sheep into.

Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms, each with private shower room: 3 doubles / suites, a family room and a narrow ship’s cabin-like bunk room with 4 berths suitable for “no adults allowed” furtive gatherings.

It's our own design - a bespoke solid frame; a new canvas skin, better able to cope with the Welsh weather; a wood-burner or gas stove and overhead light dome, making it lighter, brighter and warmer, when it's needed; and soft sleeping mats so you sleep like royalty even under canvas.

Campshack

For those who like to cosy up and share we've created a sort of camping space-station. Two very comfortable pods with custom built wooden beds docking into a fully enclosed kitchen and dining "shack", with all the facilities you'll need, including a wood-fired stove and oven for trying out your baking skills.  They even have a power socket in the kitchen area.

We've sited 3 of the camp shacks in their own field looking out west across the valley. Plenty of space between them for privacy, but great for family gatherings for up to 24 people.

Beaches

So many to choose from and at this time of year they are so much quieter. Our favourites are the National Trust beaches at Penbryn and Mwnt, but all the beaches along this stretch of coastline are undeveloped and beautiful. Little streams for building dams, gentle lapping waves for paddling and huge expanses of sand for digging and building sand castles.

Walks

Little legs can join you on a woodland walk to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, climb Mwnt or walk down the gentle slope to Ffynone falls. We are a very short drive from the All Wales coast path, where longer legs can stride out north into Ceredigion or south through Pembrokeshire.

Activities

Search out a beach to have a go at surfing or stand up paddle boarding, head out to a rugged stretch to explore caves by sea kayak or try coasteering. Just a short walk from fforest you will find Heritage Canoes, where you can take a guided canoe trip through the ancient Teifi gorge. All along our coastline there is an abundance of wildlife - take a trip out into Cardigan Bay to see the pods of bottlenose dolphins. It’s well worth an early start one morning to drive down to south Pembrokeshire and take the boat out to Skomer island to see puffins in June, Manx shearwaters in July and seals with their young in September.

Food & drink

Our Shine breaks include a fforest breakfast served at the lodge each morning. You can cook up a storm with a great selection of local produce, or pre-order a fforest hamper and some simple fforest suppers to warm up in your kitchen. We think food tastes so much better outdoors. Enjoy a drink in our little private on-site pub or grab your favourite tipple and find your perfect spot outside. Fancy a change of scenery? Our Pizzatipi in Cardigan serves stone bake handmade pizzas, breads, delicious appetizers & sweets washed down with great coffee, Welsh craft beers and wine in a riverside courtyard.

Quiet adventures

In 2012 Lonely Planet voted coastal Wales ‘the best region to visit on earth’. That’s a lot to live up to. But there is no doubting that right on our doorstep there are magnificent landscapes. A coast walk, a beach to yourself, the warmth and crackle of a driftwood fire and a golden sunset are all quiet adventures to be enjoyed within easy reach of fforest.

& relax

Grab a drink from the Bwthyn pub, take a seat on the lodge terrace and watch the sunset unfold while the children play on the lawn in front of you. Simple pleasures.
