Highlights

Beaches

So many to choose from and at this time of year they are so much quieter. Our favourites are the National Trust beaches at Penbryn and Mwnt, but all the beaches along this stretch of coastline are undeveloped and beautiful. Little streams for building dams, gentle lapping waves for paddling and huge expanses of sand for digging and building sand castles.

Walks

Little legs can join you on a woodland walk to the Welsh Wildlife Centre or to Cardigan town centre along the Teifi Marshes footpath. Climb Mwnt or walk down the gentle slope to Ffynone falls. We are a very short drive from the Wales coast path, where longer legs can stride out north into Ceredigion or south through Pembrokeshire.

Activities

Search out a beach to have a go at surfing or stand up paddle boarding, head out to a rugged stretch to explore caves by sea kayak or try coasteering. Just a short walk from fforest you will find Heritage Canoes, where you can take a guided canoe trip through the ancient Teifi gorge. All along our coastline there is an abundance of wildlife - take a trip out into Cardigan Bay to see the pods of bottlenose dolphins. It’s well worth an early start one morning to drive down to south Pembrokeshire and take the boat out to Skomer island to see puffins in June, Manx shearwaters in July and seals with their young in September.
Ask us for our recommendations for local providers.

Food & drink

Our bed & breakfast breaks include a fforest breakfast served at the lodge barn each morning. At least once a week during the school holidyas we’ll also have a supper night. You can cook up a storm from your outdoor kitchen with a great selection of local produce. We think food tastes so much better outdoors. Enjoy a drink in our little private on-site pub, Y Bwthyn’ or grab your favourite tipple and find your perfect spot outside. Fancy a change of scenery? Our Pizzatipi in Cardigan serves stone-baked handmade pizzas overlooking the River Teifi.
We can also recommend other great places locally

Quiet adventures

In 2012 Lonely Planet voted coastal Wales ‘the best region to visit on earth’. That’s a lot to live up to. But there is no doubting that right on our doorstep there are magnificent landscapes. A coast walk, award winning beaches and a golden sunset are all adventures to be enjoyed within easy reach of fforest farm.

& relax

Grab a drink from the Bwthyn pub, take a seat on the lodge terrace and watch the sunset unfold while the children play on the lawn in front of you. Simple pleasures.
