An onsen is a Japanese hot spring; and the bathing facilities and traditional inns frequently situated around a hot spring.

In Japan the presence of an onsen is often indicated on signs and maps by the symbol above Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors, with particular care taken over the siting and landscaping to create a place for relaxation and quiet reflection in the natural world. There is a strict ritual to the use of an onsen and the conduct of the user, only entering the onsen after showering and being completely clean.

DETAILS

There are four Onsen Domes at fforest farm all located in the same field with beautiful countryside views.

We’re very excited about our new Onsen Domes. They have all of the best bits of our domes which are are favourite with our fforest guests, but we have added more.

We’ve created an insulated cedar and zinc clad pod connected directly to the dome with en-suite shower room & WC, together with an indoor table & seating seating area featuring power sockets & a fridge.

Outside each has a Japanese style bath-house with shower, basin and cast concrete, sunken soaking tub.

The fully equipped outdoor kitchen and dining area has been custom built from reclaimed hardwood with a combined outdoor wood-burning stove and barbeque.
